Big Dogs
A quick little portrait of a friend of mine. Everything is to scale, obviously.
Trials In Futurism
Aside from my often meticulously, care-free loose precision character work, I like to indulge in abstractions. Being heavily versed in design has opened my mind to modernism and it’s many sub genres. Mix that with growing up in the era of Gundam Wing, Evangelion, Voltron, Zoids, Transformers etc. and you get an undying love for robotics.
This all came about quite spontaneously as I was in an artist friend’s studio. It’s a strange sharding fusion of ‘not giving a fuck’ and ‘I don’t know how to use a paint brush’. An interesting mix of loose expression and blueprinting.
Cerbirdrus
A quirky little sketch to kick myself back into the habit of characters. Being super busy doesn’t help the creative juices much. I’m slowly getting back on my feet.
Elevtronics
The dreaded day had come. A day I’ve been fending off with a 10ft barge pole, spiked with rusty nails. A best shrouded in technicalities, meticulous detail and a capacity of patience I do not posses. It is ‘robots’. Ah yes, the long fabled mechanical ‘allies’ with the potential to destroy the fickle fibers of civilization from the ground up due to codependency. Indeed how I quiver in the cold shadow cast by the idea of drawing robots. However, while I watched transformers with the kids, they egged me on and pleaded with me to draw one. Somehow, my agitated hands shook graphite along the page to create something very Gundam/Evangelion-esque. So, with much doubt and care I’ve been making marks on this drawing, spending 20 minutes predicting how one line with affect another and how the lines before hand will affect the lines that come after the lines that come after the ones I’m making right now. I’ll try to finish this one.
More drawings to come, seeing as I’ve run out of film and rupees.
Blackbook Session With The Kids
Helped Miss Ggibbings babysit the kids today. So really, she just had an extra kid to look after. After we finished eating some pancakes that I made (which we delicious as hell), we watched transformers and then they all, for some strange reason, decided to draw with Uncle Eleven. Paper was torn out of my sketch book, my pencils were shared and my ideas were stolen. It was all good fun though. I’m not going to lie, they drained so much of my energy…
However, it’s nice to be back.
Come one, come all!
Extremely late notice, I know, but if you’re around town tomorrow(Saturday) you should swing round Cocoa Jackson Studios for the live painting, art exhibition featuring amazing aussie artists, workshops, live tunes and your’s truly. Alongside a heavy volume of quality writers and artists, we will be redecorating the exteriors of the studio. I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to come.
Here’s an old sketch I did to entice your pallets.

Here’s a pile of sketches lying around and hiding between book pages. No stories.
Behind The Mask
Something a little different this time around. Not perfect, but different nonetheless. A quick little sketch on the tram, trying to challenge myself and always stay on my toes. I’ve heard,
“you draw those cartoons, yeah?”
far too many times for my liking. I’ve never done any graphite drawings in this style before, so it was a nice little experiment and it’s nice to know this old dog can still learn new tricks. Woof Woof.
Scrapbook Crap
Never finished this fella. Yet another lonely, unloved sketch that will dissipate amongst piles of unfinished children. The idea seemed pretty good at the time, but now I’m bored and tired of him. I’ve been too overworked and under-rested as of late. Nag, nag, nag, nag ~
Double Or Nothing
Incredibly busy as of late, meaning not much time to get back into my drawing. Here’s a little fella I’ve been working on as of late. I’ve been trying out a few new things, but I can’t seem to escape my comfort zone. I’m not too fussed though, I don’t have time to experiment just yet. I’ll get to it eventually, honest.
Clowns actually creep me out a bit, not sure why I decided to take such a twisted path on this one…everything I’m drawing is coming out very dark. Not sure whether I like it or not. I’ll pretend it’s still kind of cute.
Twisted Hands
Been too stuck into photos lately, not enough drawing. Going to put the girls down a bit and get back into the sketching. Saw ‘Da Mental Vaporz’ show at RTIST yesterday and i can truthfully say my dick blew out of my mind. Dick. Out. Of My. Mind.
Here’s something i did last night.
